Walking by streets of night Prague during the last hours of our trip to Prague we visited a modern landmark of this old city – the Dancing house (Tančící dům). This building has a non-traditional style.. the style is Deconstructivism. Its suppose to use non-rectilinear shapes which appear to distort and dislocate elements of architecture. This is very obvious if you look at this building :)
Another name of this building is Fred and Ginger named after the names of American dancers – Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. You may find that the house is similar to a dancing pair.
The design of the Dancing house was approved in 1992 and the construction was completed in 1996. The architect designed it were Vlado Milunić and Frank Gehry. The project was supervised by the Czech President, Václav Havel. He was living some time near the empty place, remained after American bombing of 1945, where the building is today.
