This article is to show some photos made during our trip to Odessa in Catacombs.
Odessa Catacombs are the network of tunnels under Odessa. These tunnels are the result of stone mining. The most of houses were built using that.
After catacombs were abandoned they were used by criminals to hide there activity.
At the time of WW2 the Soviet partisans used Odessa Catacombs as a place to hide from fascist invaders. Partisans were living in there for years. Catacombs reached to about 60-70 meters deep. And partisans were elusive there. They even had some kind of hospital, radio and service rooms.
Communication between partisans and people from the city were handled through the deep wells.
