Another referral points in Odessa are Sea Port and Potyomkin’s stairway.
The port was built in 1794 and it is the largest sea port in Ukraine. Its annual traffic capacity is about 40 million tonnes. It was the second largest port in Russian Empire after the one in St. Petersburg.
Now it has a passenger terminal that is very modern.
Another point is the Potyomkin’s stairway. This boulevard-stairway was built during 1837-1841 as a city’s gateway from the sea side. Initially it contained 200 stairs and now there are 192 stairs (the lowest ones were removed to build a road). The interesting thing is that when you are on the top of the stairway it seems smaller than it is.
