The White beach is the cove near the Red beach. It has very similar sand but the cliffs surrounding it are white the same as the stones on the beach and in the water.
We took the boat, that cost 5 euro/person, on the Red beach and rode to the White beach. The trip took us about 10 minutes.
The rocks look very unordinary.

Especially we liked the lonely white rock.
Riding to the White beach I was standing right on the bow. The feeling is like you are driving the boat.
White Beach Is Ahead
Reaching the White beach the boatman warned us that we do not come directly to the beach but have to land into the water. As we had all our stuffs with us this was an interesting experience :) But the beach was amazing! It was not crowded and the sand was very soft under our feet.
The cove of the White beach is surrounded by the white cliffs.

Another noticeable thing of this beach that almost every girl here was swimming or sunbathing topless.
Akrotiri is the small village on the south side of Santorini. This village is based on the Minoan Bronze Age settlement that was destroyed by the Santorini volcano eruption in 1500 BC. There are many things to review here if you are interesting in archaeology and history. We didn’t have time to visit the archaeological site but it seems to be interesting.
Another noticeable place near Akrotiri is the Red beach that has its color because of the red sands and cliffs formed by volcanic lava.
This beach can be reached from Akrotiri but we had to walk from the bus stop. This route goes through a small harbour.

Then it goes through a nice cafe and over hills.

Hill Walking To Red Beach
And raising to the hills we were able to see the nice view on the Red beach.
The Red Beach
The beach is not very well organized but there are sunshades although we didn’t find where to rent the one.
View From Red Beach
Spending some time on this beach we heard the guys shouting “The boat to the White beach!” and we decided to take the boat and left the Red beach to visit the White beach that was our next point in our “must visit” places.
Perissa is a village located on the south-east coast of Santorini. It is famous by its long black beach. The beach of Perissa consists of volcanic black sand that is very attractive although it is very hot under the sun.
Black Beach In Perissa
You may get to this black beach taking a bus in Fira. The road will take about 30 minutes and cost about 2 euro/person.
One of the side of Perissa beach is blocked with the mountain of Mesa-Vouno that creates a nice view.
Black Beach And Mesa Vouno Mountain
The coast of Perissa is full of restaurants. Another noticeable object is the Church-of-Timiou-Stavrou that is one of the largest churches on Santorini island. The original church was built in 1840 but then was destroyed by the earthquake of 1956 and then was rebuilt.
Walking to Fira from Imerovigli we saw the harbour downside. There is an old port or Skala in the harbour. This port is used for cruise ships. You may rise to Fira using mules or cable-car. The cable-car is much cleaner but riding mules is the traditional way to rise Fira.
This photo is a view on Fira and the old port. The photo made of 3 portrait oriented images merged together.
View On Fira And Seaport
Coming closer we saw a great view on Fira. This one looks like the one I made at the night. The white houses of Fira are very beautiful.
White Houses Of Fira
The port looks very small from the height of the cliff. We never walked down or up.
Hiding from people and trying to find better place to make nice photos in Oia, we walked to some roof that was behind the gate. The gate was open and we went to that roof. The place was incredible – there is not crowd and the view is fantastic. From that point, we were able to see nearest islands, Imerovigli with Skaros and Fira with other part of Santorini.
The rocks, red themselves, had even more saturated colors because of the sunset. The sea, from that height, was looked as something unreal..
Here is the panorama made in Oia with a view to another part of Santorini. The panorama made of 7 images merged in Photoshop.
