The Czech National museum (Národní muzeum) collects natural scientific and historical collections. Its building is located on Wenceslas Square in Prague. The building of the National museum was founded in 1818 in Prague by Kašpar Maria Šternberg. It houses almost 14 million items from the area of natural history.

Wenceslas Square (Václavské náměstí) is one of the main squares of Prague. Also it is a business center of the New Town of Prague. The main public events and gatherings occur here. The square was named after Saint Wenceslas, the duke of Bohemia in X century.

As I was writing here there is a gate between the towers on the Charles bridge that was intended to defend the Mala Strana. Right beyond the gate you may see the St. Nicholas Church (Kostel sv. Mikuláše) also called the Saint Nicholas Cathedral.
